1. What is the ALPS locking titanium plate?
ALPS stands for Advanced Locking Plate System, a titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) internal fixation implant designed specifically for canine and cat orthopedics. It forms an overall framework through the locking mechanism of screws and plates to achieve angle stability fixation.
The ALPS plate has a locking structure: the tapered thread of the screw head and the inner thread of the plate hole are mechanically interlocked, non-traditional crimping fixation.
It has a minimally invasive design and is compatible with MIPO (minimally invasive plate placement) technology. The incision is reduced by 40%, and it can cover 90% of canine and cat fracture types, including 12 forms such as straight plate/T plate/L plate/reconstruction plate.
2. What is the advantages of ALPS titanium plate?
1）For osteoporotic fractures, the screws are prone to loosening due to insufficient holding force, but the locking structure disperses stress and improves pullout resistance by 300%.
2）For comminuted fractures, if bridging fixation cannot be achieved, cross the fracture area to protect blood supply and reduce the rate of nonunion.
3）For fractures near joints, the anatomical matching degree is low, and the pre-bent design (such as the tibial plateau T-plate) fits the bones better.
4）For revision surgery, if the original screw hole causes fixation failure, a single cortical screw can be used to avoid the old hole, and the bone volume utilization rate is high.
3. Precautions for using ALPS titanium plates:
Avoid using ALPS plates for: open fractures with uncontrolled infection, weight-bearing bones of giant dogs weighing more than 50kg, and pay attention to postoperative management: restricting activities for 4-6 weeks (although early weight bearing is allowed)
