eterinary non-locking 2.0 Distal Femoral Round Hole Plate
product description
1. The Intended Use of 2.0 Distal Femoral Round Hole Plate
Distal Femoral Fracture Repair: Designed specifically for distal femoral fractures in small dogs, cats, or exotic pets (such as rabbits), suitable for intercondylar or supracondylar fractures.
Growth Plate Injury: Used to fix epiphyseal fractures (such as Salter-Harris fractures) in immature animals.
Deformity Correction: Assists with distal femoral osteotomy (e.g., correcting genu valgum/varus).
2. The Functionality of 2.0 Distal Femoral Round Hole Plate
-Round Hole Design: Accepts traditional cortical screws or locking screws (some models are compatible), providing flexible fixation options.
-Anatomical Fit: Pre-curved design matches distal femoral anatomy, reducing the need for intraoperative shaping.
-Multiple Screw Holes: Allows for densely packed screw placement, enhancing grip in short bone segments.
-Material Options: Titanium alloy or stainless steel, offering a balance of lightweight and strength.
3. The Advantages of 2.0 Distal Femoral Round Hole Plate
-Suitability for Small Animals: The 2.0mm system is designed for pets weighing less than 15 kg, avoiding the need for oversized implants.
-Flexible Operation: The circular hole supports compression, neutralization, and locking modes to accommodate various fracture types.
-Low-profile Design: Reduces soft tissue irritation and the risk of postoperative complications.
-Affordability: Lower cost than purely locking systems, suitable for budget-conscious patients.
4. The Procedure (Simplified Version) of 2.0 Distal Femoral Round Hole Plate
1)Preoperative Planning
X-ray/CT scan to assess fracture type, measure distal femoral width, and select appropriate plate length.
2)Operative Procedure
Supine position, knee flexed, distal femoral exposure through a lateral approach.
Reduction of the fracture and temporary fixation with K-wires.
Plate placement, with cortical screw fixation preferred at the proximal end (diaphysis).
Screw insertion at the distal end (condyle) through the circular hole (avoiding the articular surface):
Compression Mode: Eccentric drilling allows for compression of the fracture ends.
Locking Mode (if compatible): Vertical insertion of the locking screw.
Confirm reduction and screw length using a C-arm.
3)Postoperative Management
Restrict activity for 4-6 weeks, and monitor healing with regular X-rays.
